preAmped is a website that brings together music, people, and memories. We wanted to create a place that will allow anyone to find live events, see who was going, and share the experience.

The project was started December 2007 with a single idea 'capture and share the experience of a concert'. A small group was formed to bring it to life. Gill came up with the design. Greene brought the site to life while Schulist and Mckenzie worked on content. After a year of development we released this beta version. preAmped started as a small group of music fans with a passion and we now believe preAmped will grow to become a part of all fans who have a love for music.

If you are like me, you can remember specific music events that stand out and will always be a part of your life. I remember going to a Skid Row concert while my dad waited in the car.. I was about 14 years old and this was the first time attending a "real" concert. My older brother was already hitting up local shows but my experiences were limited to ones attended with the family. Pantera kicked off the concert and I was a bit taken back from it, found myself in a daze looking around at the fans head banging and moshing. Skid Row came on next and rocked out; it was just amazing (don't laugh!!!). By the end of it, I was hooked! Today I still think about the times I jumped off the stage at a Pennywise show, got doused with glitter at Marilyn Manson, and watched Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars) stand in the middle of the pit, held up by fans, belting out "A new day is coming, and I am finally free!!!".

I’ve missed concerts for numerous reasons and as ticket vendors are becoming more distributed I’m sure I’d be missing many more without help. I believe preAmped will be a place to keep track of your music lifestyle and we have some more great additions for the future. So now I’m looking forward to the next stage… where preAmped will help promote live music while inspiring, connecting, and growing the passion in all of us.

Although music has been a significant influence in my life, most of my time has been spent behind a computer screen. The first concert that I attended was Queensryche opening for Metallica. I had somehow (to this day I still don’t know how) talked my Mom into dropping me and two friends off near the auditorium for that concert. I attended a couple other national concerts, but spent more time following the local scene.

I became a part of preAmped because of my experience with user interface development. I am dedicated to creating an easy to use interface for preAmped. I believe that with your support and our continued hard work, we can make preAmped the one place to learn about what is going on in your area.
